In short: most visa applications ask where you will stay. A hotel reservation covering your whole stay — with dates matching your flights — is the most common way to show it. Some embassies want a confirmed, verifiable booking; free-cancellation bookings are the usual answer.
Accepted forms of accommodation proof
- Hotel or short-stay rental reservation in your name.
- Invitation letter from a host (sometimes an official form, e.g. the German Verpflichtungserklärung or French attestation d’accueil).
- Rental agreement for longer stays.
- For tours, the organiser’s itinerary with accommodation.
What the reservation should show
- Your full name exactly as in your passport.
- Property name, address and contact details.
- Check-in and check-out dates covering the entire stay.
- Number of guests and rooms.
- A reservation or confirmation number.
Multi-city trips
Show accommodation for every night. Gaps between bookings are a common reason for follow-up questions.
Using Preplity
The hotel reservation generator creates Booking.com and Airbnb style reservation documents to plan and present your stay. It does not reserve a room. If your embassy verifies bookings, make a free-cancellation reservation with the property.
