What it is: a one-page letter to the consulate explaining who you are, why you are travelling, how the trip is funded, and why you will return home. It ties every other document in your application together.

What to include

  1. Your details: full name, passport number, nationality, address, contact details.
  2. Purpose of travel: tourism, visiting family, business meetings, conference — be specific.
  3. Itinerary summary: entry and exit dates, cities, where you will stay. Match this exactly to your flight itinerary and hotel reservation.
  4. Funding: who pays and how (your own funds, employer, sponsor), referencing the financial documents you attach.
  5. Ties to home: job, studies, family, property — the reasons you will return.
  6. List of enclosures: a short list of every document attached.

A simple template
